If you encountered "Printer setup has failed to complete" error prompt, please do the following:

  1. Click "Next" to proceed with the software installation
  2. An "add a device" icon will be displayed on the desktop
  3. Go to MS Windows 7\Control Panel\Hardware and Sound\Devices and Printers folder
  4. Right click on the printer icon and click on "Remove device"
  5. Click "Yes" to confirm remove device
  6. Select/Highlight any of the Printer and Faxes icon, and select "Print server properties".
  7. Go to the drivers tab, select HP Officejet Pro 6500  Series and click "Remove"
  8. Select "Remove driver and driver package"
  9. Go to the desktop and click on the "add a device" shortcut to complete the software installation

Note: I would’ve put this in the Windows 7 & Printer forum, but I can’t post there….

    Hi –
Have you had any luck with this? I am having the same problem.

I am still unable to load the software, but just by plugging in the printer, Windows 7 64bit was smart enough to load the printer and scanner drivers.

  2. Simply works
